Flooding Prevention Work

Salobreña Town Council has carried out work to prevent flooding on the entrance roundabout for Lobres.

The Urban-Planning & Public-Works Department is going to carry out this improvement work where the Puente de Hierro is located because this area floods when it rains heavily, which is also a nuisance for bus-stop users.

According to Councillor Juan Francisco Gutiérrez, they are putting in wider raindrainage pipes, as well as putting in more manholes, as irrigation water from the nearby farmlands converges there.

Mayor Javier Ortega has pointed out that, due to the effects of the Cold Drop (DANA) that affected the provinces of Málaga and Granada last week, several flooding blackspots have been located in the municipality; the entrance to Lobres being one of them.
