Provincial bigwig, Eduardo Martos, together with the Mayor of Almuñécar, jJuan José Ruiz Joya, announced that the Municipal Fire Department will be receiving two new vehicles.
The cost of these two vehicles combined was 108,814 euros which came from UNESPA funding (Spanish Union of Insurance and Reinsuring Entities).
These new vehicles are for specific uses, one of which is a large van for personnel transportation costing 51,911 euros giving the fire department greater capacity for moving personnel to the scene of an emergency.
The second vehicle is a 4×4 UPI, which is designed for a quick deployment in places with difficult access with a cost of 56,913 euros.
The Almuñécar fire service provides coverage for Almuñécar, Molvízar, Jete, Otívar, Ítrabo and Lentegí; i.e. Valle Río Verde. The total population of these municipalities is 33,919 inhabitants.
For 2024, the Consorcio Provincial de Bomberos (Provincial Fire Consortium) provided the Almuñécar Town Hall with 293,668 euros to cover personnel salaries and equipment. The Parque de Bomberos de Almuñécar has 20 fire personnel (one fire chief, two senior firefighters, and 17 firefighters).
