Last weekend, La Herradura beach hosted the fourth meeting of the Provincial Fishing Circuit organised by the Granada Provincial Council together with the Andalusian Federation of Sport Fishing.
The event brought together thirty anglers who had first gone through a fresh-water angling competition in Colomera and Freila and then in Motril, in beach angling. Then it was the turn of the Herradura beach.

Participants were spaced about 20 metres apart and their spot was decided by a draw (names in a hat).
The judge, José Manuel Robles Martos, explained that they could use up to two rods, a maximum of six fish hooks and three floats.
This angling competition is a late evening/night one so when dusk fell the anglers all had their torches handy. There were competitors of all ages, amongst them a 12-year-old lad, already a dab hand at using a fishing rod.
The competition concluded at 23.00h and the process of weighing anglers’ catches began so the results could be announced. The absolute winners in each category were Antonio Molina Millán, Josefa Rodríguez Castillo and Hugo Dionisio Castillo, all of whom belong to the Rincón de Gójar Fishing Club.
The first three classified in each category received a trophy from the hands of the Councillor for Sports, Luis Aragón and in addition to the trophy, they also received vouchers worth €100, €80 and €60 for the First, Second and Third Place winners, respectively.
The next event in this provincial-wide angling competition will be in the Bermejales Reservoir (Arenas del Rey) on November the 24th.
