A fatal accident occurred on Sunday in the old town of Vélez-Málaga during the last night of the Real Feria de San Miguel.

A 33-year-old, local man, José Antonio Vigo Guirado, died after falling down a flight of stone steps in the early hours of the morning on his way home. This happened in the residential area of Conjunto El Carmen (Calle Escalerilla del Carmen). During the fall, he struck his head which killed him.

It was a private, security guard manning a public parking area that came across his body and who immediately alerted 112 – it was 04.20h. However, when the paramedics arrived there was nothing that they could do for him because he was already dead.

The victim, who was originally from the municipal dependency of El Trapiche, was a lorry driver and left behind no children

The body was taken to the Instituto de Medicina Legal de Málaga for an autopsy.
