Guardia Injured Assisting Break-Down

It was last Wednesday when a Guardia Civil patrol came to the assistance of a van that had broken down on the Ronda A-367.

One officer got out of the car to speak with the van driver whilst the other stayed in the patrol car checking paperwork.

Suddenly another car rammed into the back of the police car that was parked on the hard shoulder. Although the officer’s injuries were not serious, he was taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital to receive treatment for his injuries. However, he was not hosptialised and is now on sick leave.

It seems that the elderly driver of the car that ran into the Guardia Civil patrol vehicle had been momentarily dazzled by the sun and had not seen the stationary patrol car. He was breathalysed which came back negative.
