Two people on a motorbike or scooter (it is not clear which) were knocked off the vehicle and run over by a car on the N-340 where it passes through the municipality of Salobreña.

The accident occurred near kilometre point 323, which is virtually on the Hotel-Salobreña junction, just before the bridge over the Barranco de Cambrón.

The emergency coordination centre 112 despatched a medivac helicopter to the scene along with the Guardia Civil.

The Guardia Civil confirmed that the rider of the motorbike/scooter was seriously injured and was evacuated to hospital by helicopter, whereas there was nothing that could be done for the female pillion rider.
