This morning a well known resident of Los Pinos in Almuñécar was killed when his garden wall collapsed whilst reinforcing work was being carried

The 59-year-old victim owned and ran a spare-part shop.

The wall had previous collapsed around Semana Santa time but was rebuilt. However, the work underway when the accident took place was to reinforce the new structure.

The Policía Local were first at the scene as soon as they received an alert about the accident. The Guardia Civil, fire service and ambulance soon arrived, as well.

However, there was nothing that could be done for the man. The fire service remained at the scene to secure the area awaiting the arrival of the coroner to authorise the removal of the body.
