New Motril Roundabout

The Ministry of Transport has given provisional approval for a new roundabout in Motril on the N-323, which connects the N-340 to the Playa Granada.

If you come off the N-340 at the Granada junction and head down to Playa Granada, you first come to a T-junction, where one road takes you to the golf course and the other to the port. This junction will be replaced by a small roundabout.

The reason being is that if you are coming up from the beach area from the port, you can’t turn left to go down the golf-course road – you have to continue up to the main roundabout under the N-340 and come back to the T-junction.

This roundabout, if finally approved, will need a budget of 368,614 euros. Before it can be approved, it has to undergo public scrutiny so that those that have objections can register them, therefore the project will be published in the Official State Gazette (Boletín Oficial del Estado).

The roundabout will be situated centrally and not offset like the new Motril-access one (Al Campo etc). The N-323 runs parallel to the A-44, on the other side of Rules Reservoir and through the canyon, Tajos Los Vados, just below Vélez de Benaudalla.
