The two suspects, aged 46 and 58, swore that it was their house. They had been caught actually inside at 20.45h in the evening of the 14th.
The two men had cut through a padlock at the entrance to the property and then forced that same door before gaining entrance via a bedroom window, which set off the burglar alarm.
The alarm company alerted the police, who arrived when the suspects were still within the property, but instead of trying to escape, they decided to bluff it out and claim that it was their dwelling.
The police didn’t believe a word and soon found out who the real owner was; a man from Baeza (Jaén), and even managed to speak with him. The property owner confirmed that he hadn’t rented it out therefore the suspects weren’t tenants, either.
Both men were quickly arrested and charged with attempted theft and breaking & entering.
