Two young women died as a result of a traffic accident on the 18th on the A-92 where it passes through the municipality of Moraleda de Zafayona.
Both victims, aged 20 and 21, were backseat passengers and neither was wearing her seatbelt, according to the Guardia Civil traffic police arrived at the scene. The driver and front passenger escaped with minor injuries.
The emergency call centre was alerted to the accident at 09.40h on the said autovia on the Málaga-bound lanes. For reasons not yet clear, the car had collided with a minibus that was parked on the hard shoulder as it had broken down.
After glancing off the minibus the car went through the barrier and hit an embankment, ending up completely wrecked.
The emergency call-centre despatched a Tráfico patrol car and an ambulance, as well as the Loja fire service, whose task it was to cut open the wreckage and retrieve the two bodies in the back.
The two other women in the front of the car – they were all travelling to work – were able to free themselves from the wrecked car with a little assistance.
