Violence in a Car Park

Officers from the National Police arrested a 24-year-old man, who has a police record, as the alleged perpetrator of an assault against a of a public car park user.

According to the victim, the arrested man punched him in the face, leaving him unconscious upon the ground, with a head injury.

The National Police began its investigations after the victim filed a complaint about the aggression. However the victim could provide little information as he couldn’t remember anything about what happened.

So the police obtained the images from the parking’s security cameras and were able to confirm the victim’s testimony that the injury to his skull had take place inside the car park.

It was established that just after 02.00h that the victim was standing next to the ticket machine when the accused approached and after a brief conversation concerning a lack of parking staff being available and the need to move one of the vehicles so that the aggressor could get out of the car park, he simple, without warning, thumped the victim, who fell to the floor hitting his head and lost consciousness.

The aggressor simply walked off, leaving the other man lying on the ground only to be found a little later by a couple, who phoned for an ambulance. The victim was soon on his way to hospital with a fractured skull.

Further investigation led to the identification of the aggressor, who was arrested and brought before a police court pending trial.
