The Fiscal & Fronteras section of the Guardia Civil confiscated over 500,000 illegal toys over the Christmas Period.

Rumours that Santa and three wise dudes on camels have been arrested as part of the police operation have not been confirmed.

Toy warehouses in Madrid were found to have these toys, some of which are deemed to be dangerous for children whereas others were brand forgeries (film-related merchandise),

These officers carried out a total of 170 inspections during the Christmas campaign (hopefully before Christmas Eve).

The exact figure was 591,116 illegal toys, the majority of which contravened copywright laws. This led to 66 denuncias being issued which will entail fines (infracciones administrativas).

But it wasn’t only toys that were confiscated because over 80,000 fireworks were also removed from the market, leading to another twelve denuncias.
