Officers belonging to the Policía in El Ejido arrested a man for allegedly filming underneath a women's dress with a shoe camera. This is known as Upskirting.
The man had been visiting a shop on many occasions, especially when the female owner of the establishment was present. When he coincided with her being by herself in the shop, he would reportedly sidle up behind her and lift his leg up, which she found strange, but thought that it might be because of a nervous tick or something.
What he was allegedly doing was putting his foot with the camera attached below between her legs, whilst behind her, and angling it so as to be able to record her underwear.
Then one day the woman thought she saw him removing a device from his shoe and putting it away in his pocket. This raised her suspicions so she went over the shops CCTV footage. What she found had her taking the recording to the police and making a formal complaint (denuncia).
Upon checking the footage, the police staked out the shop which ended in his arrest. Searching him they found the mini-camera and examined the recordings.
Suspecting that other footage exists filmed with other unknowing victims, they obtained a warrant to search his premises where they confiscated storage devices (external hard drives). They had handed them over to their cyber-crime unit to examine.
