Not A Heart Attack

Fearing that a driver had suffered a heart attack, the Policia Local in Granada pulled up alongside a car stopped in the middle of the road.

GRA C&M Not A Heart AttackThey were mistaken; the driver was completely drunk.

This happened on Monday a little before ten in the morning on a busy street in the centre of the city. A concerned citizen had phoned in to say that there was a car parked in the centre of a lane, with the driver slumped, unconscious, over the wheel.

The car was stopped in front of a communal car park on Calle Sos Del Rey Católico, blocking the entrance.

When the police arrived they tried to speak with the driver but there was no response, neither to he respond to being touched or shaken, so they quickly called for an ambulance. However, in the middle of the call, he regained consciousness. When he spoke it was difficult to understand him, so they continued to think that he had suffered stroke until they caught a whiff of alcohol on his breath.

They breathalysed him, put him in the patrol car and called for the municipal tow truck to take his car to the municipal vehicle compound.

Editorial Comment: he probably will have a heart attack when he finds out how much the fine will be and the attrition caused to his driving-licence points.
