Two Eco-warriors from the, Futuro Vegetal have been arrested after staging a protest in the centre of Granada; a city already in chaos because of the EU Summit.
Officers from the Policía Nacional arrested them both a few minutes after they blocked the traffic on a main artery of the city; Calle Reyes Católicos.
The Local Police, already on overload because of a part of the city being turned into no-go area because of the summit, further struggled to divert traffic away from Calle Reyes Católicos until they were moved on, which took about 15 minutes. The protesters also set off smoke bombs.
Of course, the time chosen to bring traffic to a standstill on this busy road was designed to coincide with the middle of the morning rush hour, 08.40h.
Other activists were out causing mayhem, glueing themselves to the surface of a pedestrian crossing in a city-centre street, whilst others marched around with banners.
Editorial comment: personally I would have recommended leaving the silly buggers stuck to the pedestrian crossing for the rest of the morning to sample verbal abuse from irate drivers.
