Second Jet-Ski User Dies

A 32-year-old, Frenchman died in Fuengirola in an accident involving a jet ski. This is the second jet-ski-related death in Málaga this summer.

COS JetskisThe previous accident resulted in the death of a woman of the same age as the Frenchman but on the 16th of July just off the El Palo district of the city Málaga.

This latest accident occurred a little before 16.40h on Wednesday the 9th, which was when the emergency number 112 started to receive calls from witnesses on the Paseo Rey de España in Fuengirola.

There had been two people on the jet ski when it set out from Puerto Benalmádena, but later on one of them, the driver, fell off after hitting a wave. The victim, according to some sources, was struck by the craft.

Emergency personnel brought him to the beach showing symptoms of drowning and suffering from a cardiac arrest. Despite all efforts, they were unable to save his life.

As mentioned above, this was the second such death in less than a month in the province of Málaga. A 32-year-old woman called Marina had been riding on a jet-ski, three-up, with her occupying the rear-most position. At some point she fell off the back. Her friends brought her to the beach and despite hospital intervention she succumbed to internal bleeding.

Friends said that the slipstream had snatched her hat off and she overbalanced trying to catch it, falling into the high-powered, water-jet output.
