It will come as no surprise to hear that there is a waiting list for acquiring aircon units in the province of Granada.

According to Empresas de Instalación de Aires Acondicionados de Granada the increase in demand and the time needed to install them has produced this waiting list. A lack of foresight on the part of customers and shortage of personnel given the holiday period, has contributed.

With the third heatwave upon us, and the fact that July was the hottest one since records were kept, people who have previously put up with excessive heat with a fan and cold showers now want aircon.

According to the Asociación de Fabricantes de Equipos de Climatización (AFEC), they say that 2022 saw a 24% increase in aircon sales and this years looks set to beat that – just the month of July saw an 18% increase on July 2022.

The trouble is that people want aircon installed straight away but there is no way that it can be done because of the backlog and personnel shortage, explained a Technical Assistance Service manager for a well known aircon supplier and installer. The average wait for purchased units to be installed is around a week.

In fact, if you purchase from a large department store, then you could wait up to 15 days, because this kind of establishment do not have their owner fitters/installers.
