Market Work Progress

Workers on the Municipal Market construction in Almuñécar are now laying the floor over the underground parking and beginning on the ground floor.

ALM Market Work Reaches Street LevelMayor Juan José Ruiz Joya was there along with the Councillor for Urban Development, Javier García; not ones to miss a photo opportunity.

The Mayor said that work was progressing at “a good pace” and that the Town Hall was working on three different levels: getting the stallholders back (or new ones to replace them); getting the paperwork done so that the larger business premises can be leased and lastly, getting the paperwork together so that the underground parking can be leased to a company to manage it.

He said that if everything goes to plan, Almuñécar would have its Municipal Market open and running before the year is out.

Politicians the world over. Chance of a bit of free head swelling and PR. Good for the soul and elections. We all know at heart that most of these people are just “look at me’s”.

The real workers are too busy to smile or go to outdoor PR Haunts.

I guess by Spanish standards the time taken, after so much ducking and diving and wining and dining, to get so far is pretty quick. Unlike the shells of hotels littered about the towns and countryside.
