The Motril law courts have sentenced a woman, who attacked a member of the medical staff at a medical centre, to a 4-month suspended sentence.
The incident occurred on the 1st of February at the Centro de Salud de San Antonio in Motril when the aggressor said that she wasn’t happy with the diagnosis and the medicine prescribed and began to argue aggresively with the female doctor, who she insulted, threw things at and threatened.
Besides the 4-month suspended sentence – any prison sentence inferior to two years is automatically a suspended sentence unless the person has previous convictions – she is also denied the right of holding a public office during those four months. She has also been fined 120 euros for threatening behaviour.
Editorial comment: medical staff and teachers have been awarded the same condition as police officers; i.e., attacking one is judged with the same severity.
