There has been a gathering in Almuñécar in front of the Town Hall to pay homage to all the women murdered during the previous month and those of this month.

“It was precisely in the last two months, especially December last year that was a the darkest year as far as women being murdered by men, since records were kept,” reads the communiqué, continuing, “so far this month there have already been 18 deaths [nearly one a day] at the hands of their partners or ex-partners.”

The Centro de la Mujer in Almuñécar reported that in this municipality alone there are 60 women who have court orders out to prevent their aggressors from approaching them.
