Sunday is Ecomercado Day in Salobreña, held in its normal location on the Municipal Market Square.
It will run between 09.00h and 14.00h and will have a tropical-fruit-tasting addition (including freshly squeezed fruit juice) alongside the usual sale of ecological produce.
Besides the change in format, there has also been a change in who organises the event; the thing was set up by the neighbourhood association, Cal y Caña, but as it is well established, they feel that they can step back and hand over the reins to an association of local producers called Al-Khadra, which came into being recently.
The market is all about bringing locally grown or made produce to the attention of the general public and increase awareness towards ecologically friendly cultivation methods and the manufacture of bio-products
The Chairwoman of Cal y Caña, Celia Ocete, explained that it was all about bringing togther local producers on the Costa Tropical who already have their Ecological Certificate, not only to give them a platform where they can sell their wares but also where they can meet like-minded producers in the ecological-product field.
So, if you fancy some healthy fruit, vegetables, cheese, meat, beer, bread, as well as clothes and handicraft objects, you know where to be tomorrow morning!
