New Vehicles for Guardia Civil

The Guardia Civil received 186 new vehicles last month at a ceremony in Madrid, all of which will be distributed to G.C. provincial HQs across the country.

These vehicles include 175 new Toyota Land Cruiser GX 150 and 11 new Renault Arkana Zen micro hybrids with a combined value of 7.6m euros. However, these are just the latest acquisitions.

In October they took charge of 221 vehicles, costing 9m euros, to which there were a further 2,700 vehicles acquired between 2020 and 2021.During the next budget year the Guardia Civil will receive a further 1,800 vehicles with a combined cost of 70m euros. But it doesn’t stop there because 5.6m euros will be spent on leasing 1,300 vehicles for investigation units.

This outlay is well above the average of the last 10 years because the Guardia Civil fleet of vehicles must meet the new laws governing access to cities by petrol/diesel cars.

Editorial comment: the old timers here will remember the Guardia Civil in the early 80s driving Seat 127, Renault 4 and Mark III Land Rovers. There were even some Seat Ritmos. After that they moved onto Defenders, Talbot Horizon, Citroën ZX and the good old Nissan Patrols
