Cliff Fall Victim Saved

A man was rescued from the sea after accidentally falling from a low cliff above Cala de Cambriles on the coast of the municipality of Lújar.

ECO Man Saved after Cliff Fall DC22The accident happened around 12.45h yesterday morning when the victim who had been jogging, slipped on a stone and fell into the water below.

An eyewitness to the accident contacted 112, which despatched the Motril fire service, the Guardia Civil and an ambulance, which took him to Hospital Santa Ana.

The man, whose age had not been divulged, remains in the said hospital as he received severe head injuries from the fall, as well as to his legs. However, no bones are broken.

Thanks to the rapid intervention of the emergency services he was saved from drowning, which would have probably been his fate.

At the time of the accident, there were only five people on the beach, who witnessed the fall. Within minutes the Guardia-Civil launch, based in Motril, arrived and pulled the victim out of the water.
