Granada Cheese Wins in Wales

Wales was the country chosen for the prestigious World Cheese Awards, which is where several cheeses from Granada picked up impressive awards.

GRA World Cheese 2022 competitionWe’re not talking about one or two, but rather the province of Granada picking up 11 awards in several categories.

For example, Collados Quesería in Huéscar was awarded two medals; a Gold for their semi-cured and a Bronze for their cured cheese.

RRR cheese from Maracena was awarded a Silver for their cured cheese made from fresh goats’ milk.

When we get to Bronze awards, Cortijo Aserradero from Alhama de Granada picked up three Bronze awards: cured cheese made from fresh goat’s milk with peppers, cured cheese made from goat’s milk with paprika and cured cheese made from sheep’s milk.

La Venta del Chaleco from Lanjarón was awarded two Bronze awards; the first for its semi-cured goat’s-milk cheese and the second one for its cured cheese from goat’s-milk with paprika.

Continuing on, Queso Montefrieño from the town of the same name: semi-cured cheese made from goat’s milk and Quesería Los Teatinos from Padul also received a Bronze for its cured cheese.

This World-Cheese event, which took place on the 2nd, brought together cheesemakers, retailers, buyers and food commentators worldwide to judge over 4,000 cheeses from over 40 countries.
