The Almuñécar branch of the far-left, IU Podemos considers that the Town Hall should take the company that built the Altillo parking to task.

The water utility company, Aguas y Servicios is going to repair “a conjunctural sewage problem under the Paseo del Altillo; a system that hasn’t worked since it was built and has caused many problems.” reads the IU-P communiqué.

This is about a gallery, where sewage and rain-drain pipes run, within the paseo that was built at the same time as underground parking.

These pipes are supported on metal brackets which have with the passage of time deteriorated, thus causing, from time to time, small leaks within the parking area.

Things are made worse because the gallery is very narrow, making access very difficult.

The Spokesperson for the IU-P, Francisco Fernández,  points out that fortunately there have been no major breakages, but had the opposite been the case, the lower floor of the parking would have been awash with sewage within minutes.

Editorial comment: we covered the demolition of the old paseo and the long, drawn out construction of the new one which spent long months dead in the water because the construction company went bust. According  to our records, the Town Hall took over the project and financed its completition, so who exactly is responsible for it?
