The Junta de Andalucía has put into being their Plan Ecovivienda with a budget of 133,500,000 euros for building renovations with an emphasis on energy efficiency.
The money, which is coming from the EU via the Next Generation funding, will benefit up to 25,000 families in Andalucía with grants up to 80% of the total costs on works to improve energy consumption – this depends on how much energy a project will save.
It’s not all about solar panels, though because it is for wall insulation and other heat retaining measures, biomass heating, low-consumption lighting and even An Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP)
This last one deserves some explanation:
ASHP is a type of heat pump that can absorb heat from outside a structure and release it inside using the same vapour-compression refrigeration process and much the same equipment as air conditioners but used in the opposite direction. Unlike an air conditioning unit, most ASHPs are reversible and are able to either warm or cool buildings and in some cases also provide domestic hot water.
In a typical setting, an ASHP can gain 4 kwh thermal energy from 1 kwh electric energy. They are optimised for flow temperatures between 30 and 40°C, suitable for well insulated buildings. With losses in efficiency, an ASHP can even offer a full central heating solution with a flow temperature up to 80 °C.
The MP for Housing, Marifrán Carazo, urged the residents of Andalucía to take advantage of this opportunity because it will not only be an investment for your property but also a way of decreasing energy consumption; i.e., smaller electricity bills.
When it comes to putting in a request, you won’t be asked to provide documents that are already in the hands of different administrations, such as the Tax Officer, the Town Hall, etc.
