Alcampo Dog Show

Some people brought cats to the dog show in the Alcampo parking area on the Saturday the 1st, but, surprisingly they all got on.

MOT Al Campo Dog ShowThe manager of Alcampo Motril, Carmen Domínguez, explained that the shopping centre had been cooperating with several associations on the Costa Tropical for some time, organising food collections for foodbanks.

On this occasion it had been foodstuffs, etc for abandoned dogs and cats being cared for by animal shelters.

It is this foodstuff-drive for these animals that is behind the dog show, which is principally a demonstration from police dogs belonging to Protección Civil and the Policía Nacional, but it was also an opportunity for pet owners to show theirs off.

The animal-shelter associations also had their stands, bringing with them a few of their charges in the hope that they would be adopted.

The Mayor, Luisa García Chamorro, praised Alcampo for its collaboration in heightening awareness to the plight of abandoned and mistreated animals. She also emphasised the essential work that canine units belonging to the police and civilian associations do; locating missing persons, for example.
