The Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC) in Almuñécar carried out an awareness campaign on La Herradura beach on Wednesday, concerning skin cancer.

The Chairwoman of the AECC, Concepción García, explained about the necessity of protecting your skin, especially when sunbathing on a beach.

“The objective was to provide information about the prevention of skin cancer,” she said, adding, “this is the thought behind the initiative; i.e., for people to have healthier habits when it comes to exposing their skin to the sun during the summer months.”

The presentation of the campaign, which counted on the support of the First Councillor for La Herradura, Daniel Barbero, attracted quite a few beach goers who approached the stand to find out more information… and also to receive free sun-barrier cream.

The AECC will be setting up shop on Friday in Almuñécar on Playa San Cristóbal, next to Chiringuito Dígame.
