Officer Hit by Flying Stone

An officer belonging to the Policía Local in Motril was injured by a stone thrown by Real Madrid Ultras on Saturday, following the match.

MOT Policía Local 400x250According to the independent police union, a group of Ultras (extreme-right hooligans) started throwing stones and insulting the officers on duty around Motril that evening.

“One of those stones struck the police officer in the face causing injury to his nose requiring three stitches,” read the police-union communiqué.

The disturbances created around Motril by these Real Madrid supporters ended in several arrests as well as fines issued.

The union went on to say that their officers had to carry out their duty “under conditions of extreme insecurity, as the Town Hall had not organised any extra policing despite the “exceptional circumstances that night.”

For this reason, the officers on duty were overwhelmed by the situation and unable to control it.
