One of the streets that runs beside the Almuñécar Municipal Market will be closed to traffic from Wednesday the 18th of this month.
On the wednesday the whole of Avenida La Cala will be closed to traffic – that’s the one that runs from the old Pension Marina up past the Municipal Market to La Carrera de La Concepcion; it’s a one-way street heading in that direction.
If that doesn’t clarify which one we’re talking about, it’s the one where the remaining branch of Caja Rural is.
Normally, traffic flows down the other side of the market, past the Aquario and returns up the opposite side along the Avenida La Cala. As this return flow is closed off, you will have to turn along Calle Enrique Carrasco to connect up with Avenida de Europa.
Then on the Thursday (19th) until the 10th of June, Calle La Cala will be reopened up to the corner of the market where traffic will be diverted along Calle Sánchez Chaves.
After the 10th, a new layer of tarmac will be applied along the streets that surround the municipal market, which will take place between the 13th and 16th of June.
All this digging up etc is for the renewal of subterranean infrastructure; mains water, rain drainage and sewers. The budget amounts to 1,713,257
