There was a simple, official act in the conference room where the Councillor for Fiestas announced the winners of the Cruces competition.
Councillor Gabriel Alonso was joined by the Councillor for Lobres, Nelson Ligero, for the handing out of the diplomas and prize monies.
The winners for the open-air category were the Cruz Fajalauza and Mare Nostrum, whilst the winners for the interior displays were the Cruz La Fuente followed by the Cruz del Nazareno and la Esperanza.
The First Prize in the open-air category was 400 euros and the Second Prize, 300 euros. For those in enclosed spaces, the top prizes were 300 and 200 euros respectively.
Editorial comment: as you can guess, there was not much local news going on yesterday, so can we have a little less selfishness from our readers who opted for not going out to commit newsworthy acts – save a puppy from drowning or robbing a bank, for instance. Hell, what’s wrong with robbing a puppy and saving a bank from drowning?
