The Provincial Public Prosecutor believes that there are grounds for a case against Almuñécar Town Hall for obstructing police inquiries.
We published an article at the end of last month, if you want to come up to speed on this, but basically, the Municipal Police accused the Mayor’s party of preventing them from investigating chiringuitos that have been operating without a licence.
Allegedly, the Town Hall was fully aware of this.
The Municipal Police, finding that access to the relative documents being denied to them, reported the situation to the local law courts.
Now, after consideration, the Public Prosecutor believes that court, criminal procedure can go ahead without affecting the ongoing municipal-police investigation into the affair
La Fiscalía (as the Public Prosecutor’s Office is known in Spanish) has informed Councillor Francisco Javier García (who was specifically singled out by the police in their complaint) that he should provide a statement.
The Fiscal also instructed the Municipal Secretary to produce a report on the situation of the dosier on the two chiringuitos that have been allegedly operating without a licence. The report must also include an explanation of why the officers were allegedly refused permission to see them.
