The bomb disposal squad, Tedax, were called out yesterday afternoon in central Granada over a suspected bomb.
The Técnicos Especialista en Desactivación de Artefactos Explosivos, who belong to the Policía Nacional were deployed on Plaza Puerta Real (Recogidas) because of a suspicious backpack that had been left in the square.
Accordingly, with the collaboration of the Policía Local, the square was emptied and cordoned off so a bomb-disposal expert could approach and examine the backpack.
Fortunately, it was a false alarm and contained no explosive device. It turned out to be simply a backpack that somebody had forgotten .
