A Huge, Stuffed-Animal Bust.

The police found over a thousand, stuffed, wild animals in a huge warehouse...

The Guardia Civil as part of their police operation, Valcites, are investigating a man in Bétera (Valencia) for having a large collection of stuffed animals, with everything from elephants to Bengal tigers, not to mention 198 elephant tusks.

The man kept his 1,090 dessicated specimens in a 50,000-sq/m warehouse, which was so big it even had a dwelling in it.

Of those specimens, 405 come under CITES, (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) some of which have become extinct, such as the oryx dammah or practically extinct like the addax or Bengal tiger.

There are also a number of animals that have varying levels of protection, such as the leopard, cheetah, lion, linx, polar bear, snow leopard and white rhino. The calculated value of the haul is 29m euros.

The police are presently looking over all the papers that the man has to justify their legality.
