In the latest Plenary meeting of the Almuñécar Town Council on the 28th the governing coalition voted against implementing a judicial decision.

The court decision sentenced the Town Hall to taking on the responsibility of Urbanizacion Los Berengueles on Punta de la Mona, i.e., all the repair work to the roads etc, was to be carried out and paid for by the Town Hall.

Approximately a month ago, these two parties (the ruling coalition) also voted to reject the obligation of taking custody of the maintenance of Cotobro, until then administered by ECCO.

In the case of the Punta de la Mona-Los Berengueles, PP, Mas, Ciudadanos and IU, voted against carrying out what they had been ordered to do by the Regional High Court (TSJA). The court sentence read that the Town hall should, “immediately receive, without conditions and in the state in which it finds itself, work on the urbanización.”

The chief opposition party, Convergencia Andaluza, considered “that the stalling strategy put in place in order to avoid carrying out the court sentence could lead to criminal responsibilities, both in the case of Cotobro and in the case of the Punta de la Mona.” It should be mentioned that both court sentences are final and there can be no further appeals.

Editorial comment: there is no other way of interpreting this, yet the Town Hall, like in the case of the structure on the N-340 upon entering Almuñécar from La Herradura, has inexplicably refused to comply.
