Individuals and builders have used this area on the Camino de las Zorreras to dump all kinds of rubbish, from building rubble to plastic and household items such as furniture and white goods.
Councillor Morales explained that he had reported new heaps of rubbish appearing around the first week of last month yet the mayor had not done anything about it, hence his repeating the complaint on the 17th of last month.
“We wonder what Mayor García Chamorro is waiting for before managing, once and for all, to clean up in that area because it is not the first time that residents from Los Álamos, as well as many other people, have reported this problem,” explained Sr Morales.
He went on to ask sarcastically whether the Mayor was waiting for Motrileños to clean it up, which is what people are doing with the red dusts left by the calima.
He concluded that the Mayor was adverse to spending money on keeping the town clean, “preferring to squander funds on unnecessary building work, such as the work done on the Plaza de España or badly done work on the Paellera, which is the fountain roundabout on Avenida de Salobreña, opposite the Municipal Market.
