The grant was awarded as “Public Interest Aid” with the aim of their acquiring “digitalisation equipment,” thus improving their customer care.

The Tourist Board recognises the “enormous importance” that the taxi service for Almuñécar and La Herradura has, as it is, in many cases, the first contact that tourists have with the municipality when on holiday.

The Councillor for Tourism, Daniel Barbero, pointed out that new technologies are changing the world in which we live and our everyday lives along with it, therefore the taxi service cannot fall behind in this sense.

The Chairman of the Taxi Association, Marcos Corral, said that the grant would go towards installing new digital-service equipment, saying, “our mission is to always improve and these funds will provide a big jump in our service quality.”
