The Almuñécar fire service was called out yesterday to tackle a fire in a flat at the eastern end of the Paseo de San Cristóbal.
The fire, which took place in Edifício Drago 1 on the 2nd floor, required the temporary evacuation of residents on the second floor.
The Councillor for Citizen Safety, Francisco Robles, explained that nobody was hurt during the incident.
The emergency call centre, 112, received a call at 11.26h yesterday morning and immediately called out the Policía Local and the Almuñécar fire service.
Within an hour the flames had been extinguished and only the task of dampening down the burnt areas remained – the living room and one of the bedrooms..
The residents of the affected flat is a family of three; a married couple and their daughter
First indications are that the fire might have been caused by a multiple-socket adapter than had been overloaded with appliances.

It burned three bedrooms, bathroom and a living room. The apartment is completely damaged. And it’s parents and 2 children. Lovely people! ❤ The sweet daughter was completely devastated, as she was the one who plugged it in, and felt it was her fault. They said, the fire ‘exploded’! All they could do was just to run out.
How I know? I’m the neighbor. I’m the black spot in the photo, on the bacony opposite, waiting to be able to get down, as there were too much smoke.
I saw the apartment last night. It’s absolutely horrible 😭
