A group of Dutch tourists had been staying in Navas del Madroño, (Cáceres, Extremadura) when six of them gave a positive result for Covid but instead of quarantining, they fled.
The Mayor, Manuel Mirón, explained that a group of 14 foreign tourists had been staying in rural accommodation when one of them began to feel ill and went to the medical centre where it was confirmed that he had caught Covid-19.
The medical authorities then carried out tests on the rest and found five more cases of infection.
Consequently, they were informed that they should go into quarantine in the casa rural. However, all of the Dutch tourists decided to go full, Flying Dutchman.
However, an international alert has been issued to locate the escapees. Fortunately for the missing tourists, it was not a judge that ordered them confined otherwise they would be facing a court case but even so, they will have fun explaining themselves to their police when they get home.
