A car ploughed into a toll booth on the AP-46 where it passes throught the municipality of Casabermeja in Málaga, injuring one person and killing another.

The driver was killed outright and the woman manning the toll booth was seriously injured.

The accident occurred around 17.15h on Tuesday the 28th, which was the time that the motorway control centre alerted 112. The toll gates affected were the ones on the Antequera-bound lanes near kilometre-point six.

Both victims were trapped in the wrecks (the driver in his car and the 20-year-old woman in her toll booth) and had to be cut free by fire personnel.

The paramedics confirmed that the driver had died in the impact or shortly afterwards but the woman, whose injuries were unspecified, was taken rapidly to the Hospital Carlos Haya in Málaga.

Editorial comment: from the state of the car, it is obvious that it was travelling at considerable speed when it reached the line of toll booths.
