AECC Skin Cancer Campaign

The Almuñécar branch of the Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer (AECC) is holding a campaign to increase awareness of skin cancer caused by over exposure.

ALM Skin Cancer CampaignThey are carrying out said campaign in the Aquatropic water park in Velilla and around lifeguard posts on municipal beaches.

The campaign presentation was presided over by the local, association Chairwoman, Concepción García, accompanied by the Councillor for Social Services, María del Carmen Reinoso. Also present was the water-park manager, Vicente Barbero and lifeguard-post coordinator, José Forgeser.

The campaign has the Twitter hashtag of #esteveranonojueguesconelsol, which, if you can’t get your head around deciphering it is: este verano no juegues con el sol.

They will be giving out brochures and leaflets, not just in the water park, but also around all the lifeguard lookout posts, as well as gifts for the monitors of the summer-school, beach activities.

“We should not forget how important it is to protect ourselves from the sun, renewing suncream every two hours and by using hats and sunglasses, said the AECC Chairwoman, adding, “take great care between noon and four in the afternoon because over exposure can cause skin lesions that may lead to skin cancer.
