Vega Lanes Speed Bumps

For those of you who enjoy walking through the cool, shaded vega in Almuñécar you will be please to know that they have installed speed bumps.

ALM Speed Bumps on Vega LaneWhen you’re walking or jogging along this tarmacked lane (Camino de la Vega) you always have to keep an ear open for approaching vehicles, especially motobikes and mopeds which hammer along. Now, thanks to these speed bumps, that might not be so much of a problem.

There has long been a demand for such speed-reduction measures along the lane from locals, amongst them a local brass band that marches along the lane, blarring out in splendid cacophony – they used to practice on the P-4 but managed to annoy the hell out of everbody who lived in that area, so they were banished to the vega.

The idea of an annoying  brass band being hounded by annoying lunatics on two wheels has a touch of poetic justice to it, mind.

It wasn’t that long ago, either, that the Town Hall installed solar-powered street lighting along the vega lane, which made evening strolls in the dark a little less unsettling.
