So far the Town Council has approved a budget of 18,000 euros for a viability study. The Mayor, alcalde, José A. Robles, considers that such an installation “would place Güéjar Sierra in a notable position for MTB.”
According to the Mayor, it would be the second chair lift of its kind in Europe and the only one in Andalucía.
Town Hall representatives have already established contact with the people who will draw up the study, which will also establish the ideal location for the whole structure. The said team of experts also designed the Elevated Mountain Bike, which was the first MTB (mountainbike) chair lift in Europe, situated in Ripoll (Gerona, Cataluña).
Güéjar Sierra already has a Centro BTT, which enjoys some 200 kilometres of trails and around a dozen routes for mountain bikes, explained the Councillor for Sports, Sonia Fernández.
