The Almuñécar Policía Local recovered just over seventeen kilos of hashish with in plastic drum, washed up on the beach.

It was a group of kids that found the container on the beach in front of Hotel Caleta Bay. They contacted the municipal police who arrived and confirmed that the red container was stuffed with hashish in brick-form.

The police patrol took the container to their police station next to the bus station

“The contents consisted of 22 bricks with a combined weight of 12,630gr and loose hashish that had come out of their packets, weighing another 4.620gr,” explained the police spokesperson, adding that the currents and waves caused by the recent easterly gails had washed it up onto the shore.

Once the drug was weighed, it was transferred to the Guardia Civil post for custody until disposal.
