Rambla de Las Brujas

MOT Rambla Work OnLThe Mayor of Motril has expressed her concern about the mouth of the Rambla de Las Brujas, where one of the banks has been eroded allowing a small area to flood.

The municipal maintenance workers have been out with earth-moving equipment to remedy the situation. The Town Hall has taken upon itself to do this as no other administration has come forward.

Nevertheless, the Mayor considers that something permanent has to be done about the mouth of the Rambla de las Brujas, which traverses the town as it makes its way down from the Cerros de Panata. For this reason they are drawing up a project to ·naturalise the area where the rambla reaches the sea.”

The Mayor pointed out that Motril, because of its surroundings, is home to several ramblas, all of which must find their way to the sea. All these water courses, she says, must have a cleared mouth to the sea that is natural and not artificial, but without appearing “abandoned.” In other words, they want rounded, earth embankments covered in natural vegetation, creating an ecosystem rather than concrete walls.
