Bottle-Top Generosity

LHR Plastic Bottle Top Collection FB21Some 3,000 kilos of plastic bottle tops have been collected through the Corazón Solidario campaign, destined to provide help for the 3-year-old Motrileño child, Daniel Giraldez, who suffers from cerebral paralysis; a condition that requires costly, daily therapy.

The bottle tops are collected in two heart-shaped cages in La Herradura; one in front of the municipal market and the other next to the baker.

The lorry loaded with sacks of tops that departed La Herradura will, without a doubt, help to make little Daniel’s life easier, thanks to the collaboration of Manuel Ruiz Morales, who provided the transport, said Councillor Ruiz Joya.

Sr. Ruiz urged locals to continue leaving their plastic bottle tops inside the Corazones (heart-shaped bins).

Since last May, municipal workers have been collecting the contents from the street baskets and keeping them in a municipal building until there are enough to make up a load for transportation.

“The campaign is not only about showing solidarity with those in need, but also about stimulating the habit of recycling, concluded, First Councillor for La Herradura, Juan José Ruiz Joya.
