A Perverse Need for Attention

GRA Cat Thrown Down Barranco JA21The Guardia Civil are investigating a young woman of 18 for throwing a cat down a steep embankment onto a road below to the rhythm of a song entitled “the flying cat.” Not content with this act of senseless cruelty, she then posted her deed on social media in video format.

Seprona, which is a branch of the Guardia Civil in charge of investigating animal cruelty and crimes of an ecological nature, had no trouble tracking down the teenage suspect to her abode in the municipality of Deifontes in Granada.

She has been charged with animal cruelty and brought before a magistrate, who ordered her release pending trial.

Two women, volunteers for animal refuge associations, Priscila López and María del Alba, have since travelled to Deifontes to visit the veterinary that treated the cat for its injuries and adopt the injured animal, giving it a new home.

They pointed out that the residents of that village are just as appalled as everybody else by this person’s actions.
