Two sisters, Mari José and Guadalupe, were on their way for a day out, hiking along the Caminito del Rey in Málaga but died on the way in a road accident.
In the front of the car were close friends, a married couple, and the two sisters were sat in the back when at 08.20h their car collided head on with a Seat Ibiza driven by a young woman. This was just outside Antequera in an area known as Colonia de Santa Ana.
The two sisters, aged 48 and 50, were killed instantly. The married couple and the 29-year-old driver of the Seat Ibaza were seriously injured and are in an ICU.
The Guardia Civil de Tráfico are investigating the evidence but first impression are that it was caused by ice on the road as the sisters’ car had just rounded a bend in the road.
The family of the deceased are well known in Loja, where Marí José worked as a primary teacher and Guadalupe as a dressmaker/fashion designer.
