“With friend like that, who needs enemies,” as the expression goes and in this particular case, the expression fits like a glove.

A woman with property in maracena (metropolitan area) and Torrenueva decided to give a male friend a power of attorney to manage the sale of the Maracena property.

She had known him for many, many years – enough to trust his implicity, which is why she gave him a P.o.A. in 2003 as she was away living in Germany.

The trouble was that he used the said P.o.A. to sell the Torrenueva property (a flat) in July 2009 for just 50,000 euros.

Well, the Public Prosecutor has recommended a 3-year imprisonment, a fine for 2,700 euros and 110,000, which correspond to the 50,000 euros plus another 60,000 euros taken out as a loan in her name, none of which was handed over to her.

The case comes up on the 9th of this month in the provincial law courts in Granada.
