Two people, aged 25 and 26, flatly refused to wear a mask, even when supplied with ones by Guardia Civil officers. The incident occurred in Arnedo (Navarra) on the 27th of this month.
The owners of a bar had to call the police because these two people were refusing point blank to wear a mask and when asked to do so reacted “aggressively and defiantly,” according to the business owner.
The police caught up with them once they had left the bar and were getting into Xsara Picasso. When the officers gave them masks to put on so that they could question them, they repeatedly refused to accept them, much less put them on. They declared themselves, “negationists” and opposed the mandatory use of masks, social distancing and any other measures brought in to stop the spread of the virus.
This didn’t stop the police identifying them and filling out the paperwork for the corresponding fines. Consequently, they could both face up to 5,000-euro fines: failing to comply with the police in the course of their duty, failing to wear a mask, breaking the night curfew and even giving false information when asked to identify themselves.
